Lately I’m always involved in new projects. This days I’m shooting the movie “Villorrio del Caudillo: paletos y cuchillos” and I recently received this teaser for a tv series called Flatmates. You will sure enjoy Manu, curious friend indeed. Hope you like it. Don’t forget to bogartize it and comment.

Not long ago I participated in the shooting of an internal video for a Bellmunt’s museum. They picked me as an apprentice “fonador” or the one who extracts lead out of the stone and makes ingots out of it. And it was because, as they told me afterwards, I had a remarkable resemblance with a guy in one of the historic pictures taken years ago (from the back).

Anyway, the fact is I had to start a wild journey to Sant Fruitós del Bages. In the midday train. All filled with screaming mothers and bawling children

-Carmen, don’t stand on the seats.- I don’t hate all children, but la Carmen, uuuuuh, la Carmen… That was not a kid but the most graphic definition ever put on earth (and inside a train) of what annoying means. For an hour and a half la Carmen and I, and her glorious f… mother shared the trip.

Then I got to the shooting set. And my headache and hatred against kids were gone. There it was, like a little piece of heaven turned into a set, the biggest chroma I’ve ever saw in my life.

Just a few arrangements in the atrezzo: stones, shovels and some other tools we’d have to use to fake the lead making process. And, of course, clothes.

And the master, so I could become his apprentice.

If you ever happen to end up in Bellmunt and don’t know what to do, pay a visit to the museum and watch me sweat.

I’m not even sure that is going to be the final title for the series we were shooting some weeks ago, but it was on the script, so I decided to keep it. The idea of the show is based on two private investigators, the elder and experienced: played by Simon; and the younger who doesn’t have a clue, but learns fast: me. It’s supposed to be fictional, but not really. Something like a mock documentary, but following two inspectors while solving cases. As an actor, the fun part is that everything is improvised. There is a global concept about where the story starts and where it ends, but until we don’t star speaking we don’t realize how it’s going to develop.
We shot for almost a week and the first day we started before sunrise.

After such a bold start that made us all fear about losing some fingers due to freezing, it was finally time for lunch.

But pretty things don’t last forever, so the next day we shot until dark, you know because we had to follow the suspect and stuff. For the scene, the suspect and I had to wait together in a dark alley. It’s the guy standing by my side, don’t be fooled by his tender eyes: he is our target.

Next day we headed to Sant Andreu de la Barca. This time I just took the photo finish, at around midnight.

And the last day at La Lagosta. We shot all interior scenes: no outside, no cold. Great day to finish. It was pretty tough, but when you do what you like, time runs faster. I must add, all the people I shared the filming with were amazing and I would work with them again with my eyes blindfolded. Thanks to everyone and good luck with the project.

It’s been months since the last time I wrote in my blog, but it is not due to a shortage of news, WTJ or assorted stupidities to say. After I finished my voiceovers course I’ve been busy trying to find my luck in different studios all around Barcelona. Soon I will post some anecdotes and even some videos where you will be able to listen to my voice dubbing a manga character from the tv series: “Death Note”. But that’s another story. Today I would like to inform about the opening of the play “Disparejas” (something like “Uncoupled”), written by Rodi Carrasco, at the Teatreneu. We start next Sunday at 18:30 and we will be on every Sunday from November 14th and until December 5th (if it works we will get more days) The play is in Spanish, by the way.

The play has four scenes where different couple situations of all ages take place. They will have to solve certain problems such as to show everybody how perfect their relationship is, avoid being caught in bed by the parents or try to make a stubborn roommate leave the place so the date can take place with no interruptions. To sum up: seventy minutes of laughs and a little dancing in not-so-fashionable underwear. You can’t miss it!

Here you have the link to Teatreneu’s website where you can purchase the tickets if you want to watch the play: TICKETS FOR DISPAREJAS

Not long ago I published here a post about an advert for the web in which I participated as an actor. For those three or four who read it, we shot four different adverts, but in the end they only used two. Today, for the first time and for all of you… (drumroll) …THE FOUR VIDEOS. The first and second may sound familiar, but you can watch them again.

Thanks, Biel, for letting me have the videos.

Today I would like to share with you a post dedicated to balls… basketballs. It turns out I was selected to play a role in some promotional videos for the Spanish national basketball league, ACB. The main theme is “Hambre de título” (Hunger for title), and the idea was to shoot a series of daily situations where basketball was the main character. We shot four sequences, from which only two were chosen to be aired, apparently for internal issues. It will take you no more than two minutes, so I encourage you to take them a look at:

    www.hambredetitulo.com

It’s a contest, so if you want to shoot your own version and you like basketball, go ahead, there are prizes for the three most voted videos.
